Dr. Michael C. Zarabi, the founder of The ZPH Group, is a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist in New Jersey and New York, treating adolescents, adults, and families. He received his doctorate from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University.
Dr. Zarabi’s practice focuses primarily on anxiety and depression, with a specialty in chronic illness and pain. This niche arose from his research in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Morristown Medical Center. Living with a chronic illness himself, Dr. Zarabi truly understands the mind / body connection and strives to help others manage the emotional struggle that often accompanies these debilitating conditions.
Beyond these areas, Dr. Zarabi provides psychological evaluations for bariatric surgery and works with individuals who also struggle with issues such as ADHD, anger management, and relationships. Furthermore, with his extensive background in the school system, Dr. Zarabi offers assistance regarding IEP and 504 accommodations.
Effectively managing one’s own mental health can be overwhelming and difficult, as such, Dr. Zarabi prefers utilizing evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These treatment modalities have a proven record of helping people lead a more productive and well adjusted life.
Aside from his private practice, Dr. Zarabi is a psychologist for the Department of Bariatric Medicine at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ. He is also on staff at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ. He has presented at venues throughout New Jersey, including organizations such as The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
